Put your best foot forward to celebrate the memory of a loved one while raising vital funds for Sue Ryder, when the Starlight Hike returns to Cheltenham this October 2026.
What is the Sue Ryder Starlight Hike?
The Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Cheltenham, sponsored by Allstone Speedy Skips and Monster Mix, invites locals to join a 10k nighttime hike around town, raising money for the charity which provides palliative and end-of-life care through its hospices, including Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, and in people's own homes, as well as grief support.
It’s also an opportunity to get together with friends and family to remember those who are special to them, all while hiking underneath an enchanting night sky.
The evening kicks off with live music from some amazing choirs and an energetic Zumba warm-up for keen hikers to limber up, coordinated by local dance fitness provider Cath's Classes, before they embark on the
specially designed route which begins at Ashley Manor Preparatory School.
The family-friendly route winds through Cheltenham, with the opportunity to walk through the softly lit grounds of the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice – where participants can take a moment to place a star in memory of someone special to them.
The charity says by taking part and raising sponsorship, walkers will help ensure even more people receive the expert care and grief support they need, 'because no one should face death or grief alone'.
How much is it to take part in the Sue Ryder Starlight Hike 2026?
Standard tickets start from £20 per adult, which includes a t-shirt and special medal as you cross the finish line. Teams of five or more can get 20 per cent off their registration fee with the code TEAM20.
Participants are encouraged to raise a suggested sponsorship of £100 or more per adult.
