Spa seekers looking for a way to relax without splashing too much cash are in for a treat, with plenty of full and half-day spa experiences for around £100 each in Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. 

SoGlos handpicks some of the best affordable spa experiences, with and without treatments, that are ideal if you want to loosen up your muscles, but not your purse strings.

Cowley Manor Experimental near Cheltenham

Located in the sleepy village of Cowley just outside Cheltenham, the Grade II-listed Cowley Manor Experimental blends heritage charm with modern facilities – including its luxurious C-Side Spa with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over its verdant grounds, a spectacular 17-metre slate-lined indoor pool, 15-metre heated outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation area, rainforest showers, and four relaxing treatment rooms. 

Its C-Side Recharge package for £95 includes access to all the spa facilities, plus towel, robe and slippers, from 11am until 3pm; or just slightly over budget at £115, its Twilight Spa package, available Monday to Thursday evenings, includes a welcome drink, a facial or mini massage, and £40 towards dinner in the restaurant, as well as spa access from 5pm to 8.30pm.

Stratton House in Cirencester

The spa at boutique Cotswold country house hotel, Stratton House in Cirencester, features a relaxing spa garden, along with a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and experience showers, as well as offering a variety of treatments including massage, facials, manicures and pedicures.

Stratton House offers a variety of affordable options: Simply Spa for £45 per person, including three hours spa access, robe, slippers, and a glass of prosecco, available Sunday to Thursday; mini relaxation including a 25-minute treatment and three hours spa access for £89 Sunday to Thursday; or its Evening Sunset package, including a 25-minute treatment, two hours spa access, and a glass of prosecco for £89, available Monday to Thursday.

Burleigh Court in Stroud

Fans of Nordic-inspired hot and cold therapy will love spending an afternoon in Burleigh Court's Wellness Garden, which boasts an eco sauna with scenic views over the Cotswolds countryside, Jacuzzi pool, and a historic cold plunge pool, as well as a treatment hut offering relaxing massages. It offers guided Nordic Flow sessions including breathwork, hot and cold immersion, stretching, and relaxation for an introductory price of £55, with the option to add on two hours in the Wellness Garden for £15. 

It also offers a lunch and wellness package for £39, with two hours spa garden access and £20 towards lunch in Burleigh Court's terrace restaurant; or opt for afternoon tea and wellness for £48 – with the option to add on a 50-minute massage from £69. 

Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham

Gloucestershire’s five-star Ellenborough Park hotel, located on the outskirts of Cheltenham between Prestbury and Bishop's Cleeve, offers an opulent spa with a sauna, steam room, hot tub, treatment rooms, spa garden, and one of the best heated outdoor pools in the UK.

Available Monday to Thursday, its Revive and Glow package costs from £99 per person and includes a choice of a 25-minute back massage or Elemis express facial, a hot drink and a homemade cookie, and use of the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, relaxation room, indoor and outdoor pools – plus fluffy robe, towel and slippers, of course!

Hatherley Manor near Gloucester


Located on the outskirts of Gloucester, Hatherley Manor’s Cotswold-inspired spa offers an excellent range of affordable spa experiences, as well as great value seasonal offers. Its Sunrise Spa package includes coffee, pastries, and spa access from 7.30am until 9am for £36 per person, or its Evening Spa and Dine package includes spa access from 6pm to 8.30pm, as well as robe hire, flip flops to take home, and an antipasti sharing platter plus a glass of wine, for £50 per person. 

For an option that includes a treatment, its midweek Twilight Supper Spa includes a 25-minute treatment, spa access from 3pm to 7pm, an antipasti platter to share, along with a glass of wine, robe hire, and flip flops to take home, for £104.50 per person from Tuesday to Thursday.

Cheltenham Chase Hotel & Spa

The spa at Cheltenham Chase Hotel & Spa, nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds just outside Cheltenham, is a fantastic option for affordable spa experiences using luxurious Elemis products.

Its Simply Spa Day costs from £69 per person and includes a choice of 25-minute deep tissue back, or shoulder, neck and scalp massage, full body exfoliation, frangipani foot treatment, or express facial, as well as fluffy robe and access to the health club. Or for an upgrade, double up on treatments and add on a light lunch with the Essential Spa Day costing from £79 per person. 

De Vere Cotswold Water Park in South Cerney

With a serene lakeside location, Spa6 at De Vere Cotswold Water Park in South Cerney offers a Drift Away spa day for £105 per person Monday to Thursday.

The package includes a 20-minute Breathe Easy back massage, 25 minutes on its dry floatation bed – equivalent to three to four hours of catch-up sleep, according to Spa6! – and access to its facilities, including a sauna, spa jets, and swimming pool with relaxing views over the hotel grounds. 

DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham

DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham is a fantastic option for spa seekers on a budget. Four hours of spa access alone costs from just £15, with plenty of half and full-day spa experience options for under £100 from Monday to Thursday. 

Its three great value half day options are the Vitality Ritual, with four hours of spa access plus afternoon tea from £45, the Serenity Ritual which includes a 35-minute mini facial or hand and foot pamper from £69, or the Cool & Calm Ritual with a 50-minute cooling foot and leg massage plus foot exfoliation costing from £89; while those looking for a full day can choose from the Essential Experience from £79, including two 25-minute treatments and afternoon tea, or the Elemis Indulgence Experience from £99, including a 50-minute luxury Elemis treatment and afternoon tea.

The Lakes by Yoo near Lechlade

The luxurious Lakes by Yoo near Lechlade feels like a special treat, but with a three-hour mini spa experience for under £100, it doesn't have to break the bank.

Its Wildsmith Skin Mini Retreat costs from £99 and includes a 30-minute treatment, with a choice of a back, neck and shoulder massage, or a mini Botany Radical facial using the Wildsmith Skin range, before slipping on a fluffy robe and slippers to spend three hours luxuriating in its indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa garden.
