The new Costco in Gloucester will offer shoppers a vast array of bargains alongside an in-house bakery, butchers, opticians, hearing centre and cafe, with parking for over 600 cars and an on-site petrol station.

Costco Gloucester on Eastern Avenue has finally revealed its long-awaited opening date.

The eagerly-anticipated new 140,000 sq ft warehouse – the first in Gloucestershire – will finally open its doors to shoppers on Saturday 12 December 2026.

Shoppers can sign up for Costco Gloucester membership right now, either online or in person at the Eastern Avenue site's membership desk, which opened on Thursday 8 October 2026.

Facilities at the new Gloucester Costco store look set to include an in-house bakery, butchers, opticians, hearing centre and cafe – and will include parking for over 600 cars and a petrol station.

The American-owned wholesale giant opening its first location in Gloucestershire will mean that Costco members in the county will no longer have to travel to Bristol or Coventry in pursuit of its famously low prices.

Costco membership, which includes access to shop at its warehouses, has different tiers, with annual membership fees starting at £42 for Gold Star Membership, and Executive Gold Star Membership priced at £84 per year.

Signing up for Costco warehouse membership is subject to eligibility criteria, and the company advises its hopeful future clientele to visit the new Gloucester store's membership desk and speak to staff, or check the Costco website for full details.

Those who do not qualify for warehouse membership can still sign up for Costco online-only membership, with an annual fee of £42.

The new Costco Gloucester will create around 250 jobs over the next five years.

The multi-million-pound project has undergone repeated delays, with Gloucester City Council having approved plans for the new Costco back in December 2024, with the former Interbrew site already secured and empty. Construction work on Costco Gloucester finally began in November 2025.

There are currently 29 Costco stores across the UK and more than 800 of its warehouses worldwide, selling everything from groceries and electronics to clothing and cleaning supplies under one roof, with the global giant's enormous buying power achieving great value for its customers.
