Gloucester Cathedral is welcoming applications to become a member of its musical community this autumn 2026, inviting passionate young singers in the county to apply for two of its five youth choirs.
Children aged four to nine can apply to become a member of The St Benedict's Singers, while young people aged nine to 13 can apply to join The Trinity Singers.
Music lovers from all backgrounds are encouraged to audition, and don't need to have had any formal experience in music to try out.
Successful singers will receive expert training to help them develop their vocal skills, regular performances to build their confidence, as well as exciting opportunities to be part of Gloucester Cathedral's major services, festivals, and events throughout the year, some of which are attended by members of the Royal Family.
They'll also have the chance to be an important part of Gloucester Cathedral's musical community, where listening and working together as part of something bigger than themselves provides a unique sense of belonging and friendship.
Gloucester Cathedral's Singing Academy director, Nia Llewelyn Jones, said: 'Singing is about much more than simply raising your voice. Joining a choir can give young people a place to belong, the confidence to perform in front of others, the opportunity to challenge themselves and to discover skills they may not have known they had.
'During my time at the cathedral, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing over 3,500 young people discover their voices and so much more through our choirs and choral projects. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to continue to see the remarkable difference that singing together can make to lives of young people.
'I’m really looking forward to meeting the new voices who will join our Trinity Singers and St Benedict’s Singers choirs this autumn.

Singers have until Wednesday 2 September 2026 to apply and new members will join the choirs in autumn, with rehearsals every Monday evening during term time, and performances at the cathedral every Thursday.
