Josser Restaurant is back at St Michael's Park in Cirencester for a two-year residency, offering dinner under canvas, Sunday lunch and brunch.

Cirencester's magical pop-up dining experience, Josser Restaurant, is back this April 2026 – and SoGlos got a first look at its expanded dining space and new menu.

Josser announced it was returning for a two-year residency back in February 2026, expanding its offering to include Sunday lunch for the first time, alongside its popular dinner under canvas evenings.

Walking through St Michael's Park to Josser's semi-secret location, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were walking into a scene from Erin Morganstern's The Night Circus.

When it says dinner under canvas, that's exactly what you're getting, with fairy lights and candles providing an atmospheric ambiance and long oak tables to encourage friendly conversation with neighbouring diners.

And as well as expanding the menu, Josser has doubled the size of the tent this year – and while it's very much an outdoor dining experience, the walls can be up or down, to protect diners from the unpredictable British weather and there's a toasty fire pit outside.

The decor is colourful and rustic, with mismatched crockery, pots filled with flowers and herbs and a great view of the kitchen.

The six-course dinner menu changes monthly and is inspired by founders Ols and Amber's travels and experiences, with the April menu being an Indonesian feast inspired by their honeymoon in Bali.

Every meal starts with a snack – on this menu, a pile of crispy Indonesian rice crackers; followed by a bread course – a light-as-air coconut puff with sambal dipping sauce.

Vegetarians and meat eaters are equally well-catered for when it comes to the following three courses, with a choice of suckling pig with satay sauce or gado gado salad with soft boiled egg and satay dressing; a fish course of salmon or silken tofu with fresh kaffir lime, basil, coconut milk and peanut praline; followed by a main course of Balinese spiced chicken or tempeh with steamed jasmine rice and sambal, served banquet-style.

There's always something sweet to end on, too – for April, a fluffy pancake from the Bangka Islands, stuffed with chocolate and roasted nuts.

Josser has plans for live entertainment and music nights later in the year, promising festival-style vibes as well as fantastic food.

For lighter bites, there's also The J Kiosk, which serves up toasties and coffee from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Josser's dinner under canvas costs £65 per person and is available on Friday and Saturday nights; Sunday lunch is available from 1pm, costing £40 per adult, £25 per child aged five to 15 and is free for children under four.

Early bookings for dinner and Sunday lunch are advised, as places are limited and get snapped up quickly.
