Gloucester BID is looking for people who want to share their passion for their home city to join its Welcome to Gloucester ambassador programme.
From helping visitors find their way to Gloucester's must-see landmarks, to recommending the hidden gems only locals would know about, Welcome to Gloucester ambassadors provide a professional meet-and-greet service for tourists, students, business travellers and residents, helping to showcase the city's exciting attractions, vibrant festivals, rich history, and diverse shopping and dining options.
Volunteers receive a variety of incentives and rewards from Gloucester businesses, as a thank you for their valuable contributions, as well as the opportunity to gain new skills and learn fascinating information about the city they call home.
Its friendly volunteer community also gives ambassadors the chance to meet likeminded new people, build their self confidence, and be part of a supportive and enthusiastic team.
Gloucester BID's ambassador coordinator, John Riley, said: 'As a growing community of passionate people from all sorts of different backgrounds, the Gloucester Ambassadors continue to welcome new members that want to see the city succeed.
'By supporting local events, promoting Gloucester's businesses and celebrating the city's heritage and culture, ambassadors can provide a highly positive experience to those spending time here. Our core aim is to ensure that visitors, residents and workers are given a warm and informative welcome to Gloucester with options of how to best make the most of what the city has to offer.
'Whether you have been here all your life or have only recently arrived, if you are passionate about Gloucester being successful, then you would be most welcome with the ambassador community. We are a very friendly and approachable group of people with a wide range skills and experiences, ever eager in embracing our task and doing Gloucester proud.'
Gloucester ambassador, Penny, added: 'As newcomer to Gloucester I have been enthralled with the history and beauty of the city, and to be able to share this with visitors is just so exciting. And not only that, there are great independent shops and restaurants that are very worth promoting.'
Longstanding Gloucester-based business, Fasthosts, is proud to support the Welcome to Gloucester ambassador programme. Managing director, Rupert Bedell, said: 'Gloucester is where Fasthosts started and where our team works every day, so backing the ambassadors was an easy decision.
'They’re the friendly welcome that helps people see everything the city has to offer, and we’re proud to support them.'
