Taco Nopal, Cheltenham's newest restaurant, has opened on the Promenade this September 2026.

New Mexican-inspired restaurant Taco Nopal has opened at 23 Promenade in Cheltenham town centre this September 2026, replacing popular pizzeria Japes.

Taco Nopal has been launched by the same team behind Japes, which previously operated from the address, with the new concept focused on a short menu of individually priced tacos.

Taco options include chicken, pork, mushroom, and beef, with prices starting from £1.79 per taco.

The menu also includes extras such as cheese and avocado salsa, alongside drinks including horchata, agua de Jamaica, as well as margaritas, beer, and soft drinks.

Taco Nopal marks a change of direction for the Promenade site, which had previously been known for Japes' Chicago and London-style pizzas.

The concept is said to have been developed after the founders visited taquerías during trips to the US, with the Cheltenham restaurant adopting a casual, walk-in format.

Taco Nopal is open seven days a week from midday, with later closing times on Fridays and Saturdays.

SoGlos loves: We stopped by to try Taco Nopal for ourselves – the tacos are fresh, tasty and reassuringly affordable. Three to four tacos is about right for a filling meal, making it a convenient new town centre option for a Promenade pitstop.
