Berkeley Castle is hosting an action-packed weekend of medieval combat this May 2026, as its Knights' Tournament returns to the historic Gloucestershire attraction.
When is the Knights' Tournament at Berkeley Castle?
The knights are galloping into Berkeley Castle on Sunday 3 and Monday 4 May 2026, with the action kicking off at 11am each day.
What to expect from the Knights' Tournament at Berkeley Castle?
Four fully-armoured knights and their loyal squires do battle for glory and honour through a series of combat challenges, followed by a dramatic grand finale to determine the champion of the day.
Start by exploring the immersive knights' camp, where visitors can meet the competitors and choose who they'll be cheering for.
The squires start proceedings by attempting to win the prize dagger in an archery competition, then the knights go head-to-head in a sword fight before swooping into the Battle of the Barriers and Crest Melee in what Berkeley Castle calls a 'no-holds barred pole hammer fight'.
Then it's time for the Grand Melee where all the knights and squires head into the arena together to battle it out until there's only one knight standing!
The day is compered by a skilled marshal who will take audiences through all the action to make sure they don't miss a moment.
