Gloucestershire College has expanded capacity on its computing courses this September, opening up additional opportunities for county students looking to build a career in the fast-growing digital sector.
As one of just five colleges in the UK selected as a Technical Excellence College for Digital and Technologies, Gloucestershire College is strengthening its role in developing the technical skills needed by employers both locally and nationally.
Places are currently available across a range of courses including Computing at Level 2; Digital Computer Games Design and Development at Levels 2 and 3; and Forensic Computing and Cyber Security at Level 3.
The courses are suitable for both 16-to-18-year-old school leavers and adult learners aged 19+, with different levels available for those starting out, progressing their studies or developing new career skills.
Offering practical routes for school leavers considering their next step, as well as those looking to change direction, develop existing skills or progress towards higher-level qualifications.
Students can progress through Level 4 and Level 5 study and potentially on to degree-level education, while also developing skills relevant to careers across areas including cyber security, software, programming and games development.
Teaching takes place in specialist facilities including ADA, Gloucestershire College's £3 million digital academy, which provides technology, equipment and learning spaces designed specifically for digital education.
The college's Technical Excellence College status also forms part of a wider £175 million national investment in technical education, aimed at helping colleges respond more closely to the skills needs of employers.
Alongside technical training, students have access to employability and careers support, student mentors, clubs and activities.
For anyone reconsidering their plans after the start of the academic year, Gloucestershire College says its teaching and support teams can also help students joining later to settle in and catch up.
With digital expertise increasingly valuable across sectors ranging from professional services and finance to engineering, retail and the public sector, computing qualifications can provide a foundation for a broad range of future careers.
Applications and enrolment for September 2026 remain open until Wednesday 30 September 2026, with course availability depending on campus and level.
