Gloucestershire's only dedicated roller disco is closing, as RollerXpress at Gloucester Quays hangs up its skates this July 2026.
RollerXpress opened in 2023, run by the team behind Gloucester's long-running 'old skool' skate shop, Skate Factory, which dates back to 1976.
With 8,000 sq ft of space and capacity for up to 100 skaters, the not-for-profit community hub provided a safe space for skaters of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, with an accessible price point for individuals and families.
In a statement announcing the closure on its website, RollerXpress said: 'Running an independent business comes with its hurdles. Between the rising costs of operation and the ongoing battle to secure suitable funding, it hasn't been an easy track...
'Before we lace up for the last time, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who made this journey possible. Our hearts are so full as we thank our amazing staff (past and present): You are the absolute dream team. Thank you for your hard work, your endless energy, and for making RollerXpress such a fun, welcoming place for everyone. We couldn't have done it without you!
'Our incredible skaters and supporters: You brought the energy, the smiles, and the community spirit every single week. You are the heartbeat of RollerXpress!

There has been an outpouring of support from the local community, along with criticism of Gloucester Quays owners, Peel L&P, for the short notice given to vacate the premises, with the venue's closure coming just four weeks after its official announcement.
The owners are now seeking an alternative venue, encouraging anyone with a suitable empty space, such as a warehouse or commercial property, to get in touch.
While the search for a new venue continues, RollerXpress says that it won't be 'rolling out quietly', inviting skating fans to join it for one last victory lap on Sunday 26 July 2026, with tickets costing £10.
