Home, garden and outdoor living retailer Charlies is celebrating one year of community activity, in-store events and providing Gloucestershire customers with great products at 'the very best' value, with the anniversary of the opening of its Cheltenham store.
And at the start of the spooky season – with one eye on the festive period – it's the perfect time to visit this October 2026, with new ranges of autumn and Christmas decor to browse in store.
Since opening on Tewkesbury Road last October, the Charlies Cheltenham team has enjoyed getting to know local customers, families, schools and businesses, both in-store and out in the community, while showcasing the breadth of its offer across home, garden, outdoor living, tools and DIY.

In-store events, including a Garden Machinery Weekend featuring product demonstrations and expert advice; and a Big Garden Party Weekend, focused on garden furniture and outdoor living with exclusive offers, giveaways and complimentary food and drink, have helped bring the store to life, while the team has also engaged with customers outside the store, including at Moreton Show.
Charlies has also been keen to involve local schools, having given away more than 1,000 plants to schoolchildren in the area, with the aim of encouraging young people to get gardening. And its set to build on that this Christmas, by giving Christmas trees to 10 local schools, too.
For the business, opening in Cheltenham last year was a major milestone, becoming the company’s first location outside Wales and the borders, while Charlies is also celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026.
Manging director at Charlies, Becky Lloyd, said: 'Cheltenham was an exciting and important next step for Charlies, and we could not have wished for a warmer welcome. We have loved getting to know the local community, welcoming customers to our events and working with local schools.
'As we celebrate both our first year in Cheltenham and 40 years of Charlies, we are incredibly proud to call the town home. We look forward to welcoming even more customers over the coming years and to being part of the Cheltenham community for the next 40 years and beyond.'
In store this October 2026, Charlies has a range of colourful autumn decor in stock, whether for indoors – from Halloween paper decorations, velvet pumpkins, bristle ornaments and LED candles, to scented candles, decorated cushions, throws, bed spreads and wicker baskets; or outdoors – with autumnal wreaths, Halloween signs and decorative lighting.

While Charlies' Christmas range, featuring all kinds of indoor and outdoor decor including artificial trees and lights, officially launches in store on Friday 2 October 2026.
And for its next in-store event, Charlies is hosting a Christmas Weekend on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, offering 'festive inspiration and seasonal shopping' for customers.
