Brewhouse & Kitchen at The Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham is undergoing a transformation this October 2026, as it changes its name to The Landed Eagle.

The new name is inspired by Cheltenham sporting legend, Eddie the Eagle, who also lends his name to one of the pub's most popular beers.

Its Landed Eagle Traditional Porter was created in Eddie's honour, with the pub describing it as 'rich, distinctive and full of character' in tribute to one of the country's favourite underdogs – and now the pub itself is taking on the name to recognise and celebrate Cheltenham's unique place in sporting history, the sense of local pride Eddie's story embodies, and root the pub into the location and community it serves.

Eddie famously captured the world's hearts during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Canada, where his courage and determination became a symbol of national pride for Britain, despite finishing last in the ski jumping event, and elevated him to legendary status.

Today, Cheltonians' affection for him still endures.

The Landed Eagle's general manager, Renata Hajszter, said: 'The Landed Eagle is inspired by one of Cheltenham's most celebrated local stories and by a beer that has become an important part of our brewing heritage.

'Eddie the Eagle's determination, resilience and sense of fun perfectly capture the spirit of what we want this pub to be: a place with genuine local roots, a great story to tell and a commitment to bringing people together.'

While the name above the door is changing, The Landed Eagle says that the microbrewery remains at the centre of everything it does, and it will continue brewing its fresh craft beer on site, alongside serving up food and hosting community events.

Brewhouse & Kitchen Cheltenham officially becomes The Landed Eagle on Friday 23 October 2026.
