An orthopaedic surgeon and a senior physiotherapist share their specialist advice on how to prevent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries at a free workshop hosted by Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital this October 2026.
One of the most common, most serious, and potentially devastating sporting injuries, ACL injuries can occur across a range of sports, often resulting in prolonged ‘rest’ time, extensive rehabilitation and major impact on the patient's wellbeing – but the right advice can significantly reduce the risks.
What to expect from Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital's Free ACL Injury Prevention Workshop for Coaches?
Led by orthopaedic surgeon Alexander Dodds and senior physiotherapist Laura Hale, this interactive workshop arms attendees with practical, evidence-based strategies to prevent ACL injuries. This includes understanding ACL injuries and why they occur, common risk factors, implementing warm-up programmes and injury prevention exercises, supporting long-term athlete health and performance, and reducing time lost to injury across sports such as rugby, football and netball.
This is also a Power Up To Play training session, an initiative set-up by medical professionals to improve young player welfare in grassroots sport through prevention of serious knee injuries.
